A Message
From the President

First, I would like to introduce myself. I’m Lindsay Parkyns and I was elected to the position of President of the Australian Nudist Federation (for 2 years) at the General Assembly of Affiliated Clubs held at the Act Nudist Club on 30th December, 2006. I welcome you to the website of the Australian Nudist Federation and the wonderful lifestyle of being a nudist.
    The Federation has moved forward over the past few years with the direction provided by our past President; Marianne McCammon. I aim to build on the good work carried out by Marianne and ensure we do not become stagnant, but move ahead and continue to improve the services of our Federation.
     At the last General Assembly many topics were discussed and an agenda was set for the Executive for the coming year. Some of these items are discussed below.

Code of Behaviour.  Last year, the Executive was determined to develop a code of behaviour which would give guidelines on ‘what is’ and ‘what is not’ acceptable in the nudist environment. It then decided such a code was warranted as the ANF and its affiliates are constantly under pressure to justify why we should have a nudist lifestyle in today’s society. These questions are raised predominantly when some elements of our society behave badly and do the wrong thing in a public place – particularly at or near clothes optional beaches.
   However, the Code of Behaviour is a guideline only. It is not meant to override any Local, State or Federal Laws, nor overrule any local arrangements put in place by our affiliated clubs. ( View Code of Behaviour or Download and print PDF copy )

ANF Loans and Grants Scheme.  The Federation introduced a loan and grants scheme for a trial period a couple of years ago. These schemes are a means for the ANF to provide funding for clubs to improve and increase its facilities and therefore be more attractive for visitors. These schemes were reviewed at the last General Assembly and I am pleased to advise that it was decided to increase the grants available in each year from $2,000 to $4,000 (with a maximum of $1,000 for any one applicant). The loan scheme stays the same and has $5,000 available for loan each year by any club which has a specific task which requires funding. These schemes will mean improved facilities available to more of our members through more clubs.

Beach Carnivals.  The Executive, also put forward a proposal to change the funding arrangements in support of beach carnivals. These carnivals, which are held in various locations around Australia, have been hit with large increases in costs to cover such items as public liability insurance, Surf Lifesaving services etc. The original funding was for $1,000 to be spread across all beach carnivals.  The new arrangements allow for $500 for each beach carnival but also outline criteria for applicants to meet and requirements to justify the expenditure.

ANF Executive.  Additions to the Executive include Beverley Knowles, of the Sydney Sun and Social Club as the new ANF Vice President. Beverley has wide ranging experience in business and public administration. Her main goal for the year will be to assist the Executive in developing a strategic plan for the long and short term benefit of the Federation and its members. The remainder of Executive members remains the same.

Non-Executive members of the Federation.  At the General Assembly it was decided to appoint an Affiliate Liaison Officer. I’m pleased to advise that Tony Pinson, President of the Yulti Wirra Club, has accepted this role. Tony will be developing and improving the Federation’s relationship with its affiliates. He will be ensuring that that they are aware of what the Federation does and can do for them and that they are aware of why we have a passport system and how the money is used that is generated by having passports. He will also be active promoting the ANF to clubs/resorts/B&Bs etc which are not currently affiliated and seeking their affiliation to the Federation.

Guide to Australian Naturist Destinations.  The Executive will continue working on the Guide to Australian Naturist Destinations. This booklet will detail all ANF Affiliated clubs/resorts/B&Bs etc, and will provide information including:

  • contact details;

  • facilities;

  • cost etc.

It is expected to be finished by the end of the year and be available through the naturist magazines ie TAN and Sun & Health.

I look forward to the challenges of the next two years and hope to see you around at a club/resort/B&B or free beach.

Cheers,
Lindsay Parkyns
